Contracts - renewed

We may be using this incorrectly, but if we create a contract and it expires, when we renew the contract the original contract stays showing EXPIRED.

Could (or should) this be set to show RENEWED as looking at the EXPIRED list I can't see how you can tell which ones need chasing for renewal?
