Confusion with Mitel IP phones
Confusion with Mitel IP phones
Hi,
I've been over a lot of the documentation and can't find much in relation to phone systems in general other than a forum post here where a manage engine staff member says that IP phones cannot be scanned;
https://forums.manageengine.com/topic/can-servicedesk-scan-and-identify-cisco-ip-phones-as-assets
But I seem to be getting mixed results on my network. When doing a scan I get a lot of entries coming back with "
Connection to RPC server in the workstation failed.", which makes sense, that doesn't exist on an IP phone. I check the MAC of the IPs and they are all Mitel MACs, so they are phones.
But then if I go into non-IT assests > telephony I can see a handful of IPs in there with the product column set to "MITEL 5320 Handsets", which is right.
So what's the score? Is scanning IP phones now doable? And if so why are less than half of my phones being correctly identified as phones?
Thanks in advance,
Jason
