Issue description

In ADAudit Plus, share discovery on Huawei NAS devices may fail, resulting in missing share information. This can occur when the domain user configured under Domain Settings lacks the required permissions to access shared folders or the target share is not properly visible through the Microsoft Management Console (MMC).

Prerequisites

  • The domain user configured under Domain Settings in ADAudit Plus should have administrative privileges.

  • You need access to Huawei OceanStor DeviceManager (one-click access to vStore and share-level configurations).

  • You need run access to MMC from a system in the domain.

Possible causes

  • The domain user lacks permission to browse or access shared folders on the Huawei NAS.

  • The target share is not visible due to authentication issues.

  • HyperMetro or vStore user group settings are not properly configured.

Resolution

Step 1: Verify share access via MMC

  1. Access MMC using the account that is configured in ADAudit Plus under domain settings.
Open the Command Prompt and execute:

  • runas /user:domain\user /savecred mmc

  1. In the MMC window:

    • Go to File > Add/Remove Snap-in > Shared Folders.

    • Connect to the Huawei NAS target server.

    • Select the target share and save the snap-in.

    • Ensure the share is visible and accessible.

Step 2: Grant access in Huawei OceanStor DeviceManager

  1. Log in to the OceanStor DeviceManager.

  2. Navigate to:

    • Services > File Service > Authentication Users > Windows Users > Local Authentication User Groups.
For Pacific series: Go to Resources > Access > Authentication User.

  1. Edit the Administrators group and add the ADAudit Plus domain user (e.g., win2019ad.com\mmc_user1).

  2. Ensure the user is listed as a member of the group.

Step 3: Configure HyperMetro (if applicable)

  1. Select the appropriate vStore from the top-left drop-down list.

  2. Click the Administrators group name.

  3. Go to the Members tab. Under AD Domain Users, click Add.

  4. Enter the domain user in the format:

    1. domain\username

    2. Example: win2019ad.com\mmc_user1

  5. Click OK to confirm.
