 Issue description

You may encounter a connection reset error when ADAudit Plus attempts to connect to the Cloud Directory server. This prevents successful communication with Entra ID  services and interrupts configuration or data collection.

 Possible causes

  • A firewall is restricting or interrupting outbound HTTPS requests from ADAudit Plus to Microsoft Entra ID endpoints.

  • SSL inspection, content filtering, or traffic shaping may be interfering with TLS handshakes or persistent connections.

 Prerequisites

  • Administrative access to firewall settings or proxy servers.

  • ADAudit Plus must have Internet access and permissions to communicate with external services.

  • The Entra ID tenant must be correctly configured in ADAudit Plus.

 Resolution

 1. Allowlist Microsoft Entra ID domains

If your network uses a firewall or proxy server, ensure the following domains are added to the exception list or allowed without SSL inspection:

Allowing these domains ensures uninterrupted access to Microsoft APIs and services required by ADAudit Plus.

 2. Retry the Entra ID configuration

After applying the firewall rule changes, return to ADAudit Plus and attempt the Entra ID configuration again to verify that the connection reset issue is resolved.
