Unable to connect to MSSQL database
Issue:
While trying to MSSQL database, I get the following error message "Problem in connecting to your database server. Check your connection settings and try again. Would you like to report this error to our support team?"
Cause:
The TCP/IP connection to the host on port 1433 has failed. Make sure that an instance of SQL Server is running on the host and accepting TCP/IP connections at the port. Make sure that TCP connections to the port are not blocked by a firewall.
Workaround:
1. Got to Start->All Programs-> Microsoft SQL Server 2012-> Configuration Tool -> Click SQL Server Configuration Manager ->Expand SQL Server Network Configuration-> Protocol ->Enable TCP/IP
2. Double Click on TCP/IP and go to IP Adresses Tab and update the port as '1433' under TCP port.
