Issue description
In ADAudit Plus, you may encounter the error The system cannot find the path specified or notice that the Synology NAS server appears as not found. This indicates a failure in connecting to the Synology server from the ADAudit Plus server.
Prerequisites
ADAudit Plus must be installed and accessible.
Synology NAS must be configured under File Audit > Configured Servers.
DNS resolution must be properly set up within the network.
The Synology server should be reachable by name from the ADAudit Plus server.
Possible causes
The Synology NAS server is not reachable due to DNS resolution issues.
The server is not part of the domain or not accessible from the ADAudit Plus machine.
There is incorrect server name mapping in ADAudit Plus or there are missing DNS entries.
Resolution
Verify server configuration in ADAudit Plus
Log in to the ADAudit Plus web console.
Go to File Audit > Configured Servers > Synology NAS and select your domain.
Identify and note the name of the Synology server that shows the error.
Test network connectivity
Open Command Prompt on the ADAudit Plus server.
Run the command:
ping <Synology_server_name>
If the ping is successful, the server is reachable and the issue may be due to other configuration problems.
Resolve name resolution issues
If the ping fails, add a DNS suffix to the ADAudit Plus server's TCP/IP settings under Advanced DNS configuration.
Alternatively, create a host record in the DNS server that maps the Synology server name to its correct IP address.
