Setting up Active directory domains in SDP-MSP to manage users.

Setting up Active directory domains in SDP-MSP to manage users.

We can set up multiple domains from Active directory for each account to import and manage users or share a single domain to multiple accounr.

2 types of domain can be added.

1. Account specific domain.
2. Shared domain.

Account Specific domain:

1: Navigate to Admin>>Windows domain scan >>select any account at top and >>click add new domain.

2: It will take you to the page to fill required details such as domain/domain controller username and password to connect to the specific server.
3: You can follow the same steps by selecting each account at top and create a new domain for each account respectively to manage users.

Note: A domain configured under one account cannot be configured for another.

Shared domain:

Shared domains can be created and used in a way to manage all users from one Active directory domain. In this scenario you will be sharing the domain not the OUs present in the domain.

1: Navigate to Admin>>Windows domain scan >>select MSP account at top>>click add new domain.
2: It will take you to the page to fill required details such as domain/domain controller username and password to connect to the specific server.
3: You will find SHARE option at the end when MSP account is selected and a domain is created.
4: If you check the SHARE option you will have the list of client accounts configured in the application and you can select the accounts you want to share the domain with.
Screenshot for your reference:

Once saved you need to manually import the requesters from Admin>>Active directory to map the OUs accordingly for each account since this is a shared domain and if specific OUs are selected and requesters are mapped into one account the same OU cannot be selected for another account it will be greyed out as shown below.

Example: Domain A is shared with Account A and B now go to admin >>Active directory >Import requesters >>select Account A and click next, for the first time it will list all the OUs without anything greyed out, now you select OU1 to import requesters for Account A and imported the requesters.
Now when you Import requesters again the Ou1 will be greyed out and you need to select a different OU for Account B to import requesters.
