Error: Some of the dashboard widgets show "No Data Available"
Issue description
Some dashboard widgets display a "No Data Available" message, which impacts the real-time monitoring of data for the security operations center (SOC) or network operations center (NOC) team. Applicable across multiple builds, particularly when a dashboard is refreshed or report data is misconfigured.
Possible causes
The widget has not been refreshed to fetch new data.
The source reports or modules do not contain any recent or relevant data.
The refresh interval is not configured correctly, causing delayed or missing updates.
Prerequisites
Resolution
Step 1: Check the report or module data
Navigate to the respective report or module related to the affected widget.
Confirm whether data is being collected and displayed correctly.
If the report shows no data, investigate log source configuration or event generation on the source system.
Step 2: Check and adjust the refresh interval
On the Dashboard page, click the gear icon in the top-right corner.
Select Refresh Interval from the drop-down menu.
Set the interval based on your requirements (options range from 30 seconds to 1 hour).
Ensure the interval is not set too high, which could delay widget updates.
Validation and testing
After adjusting the refresh interval, wait for the set duration and observe the widget.
Cross-verify with corresponding reports or modules to ensure data is being displayed.
Refresh the dashboard manually to validate immediate updates.
Tips
Use shorter refresh intervals for high-priority dashboards.
Ensure reports and log sources are consistently monitored for data flow.
Automate report scheduling where applicable to keep dashboards up to date.
