Licensing of Azure cloud monitor instances in Applications Manager

Licensing for Azure Cloud Monitor instances in Applications Manager is typically based on the number of individual resources being monitored within your Azure environment. In Azure, each child monitor is considered a separate licensed instance.

However, there are exceptions: Services that are not separate monitors and displayed as tables in Microsoft Azure monitor (Eg: Billing, Basic Load Balancer, Client Secret Expiry, Quota usage) do not require separate licenses, as they are not considered to be child monitors.

Example:

Let us consider a scenario where a user is using Applications Manager to monitor various Azure resources as part of their cloud infrastructure. They have the following resources in their Azure environment:
  1. 1 Azure monitor [including Basic Load Balancer, Billing & Client Secret Expiry] = 1 monitor
  2. 10 Virtual Machines (VMs) = 10 monitors
  3. 5 SQL Databases = 5 monitors
  4. 3 App Services = 3 monitors
Total monitor count for licensing: 19 (1 Azure monitor + 10 VMs + 5 SQL Databases + 3 App Services)
