Implementing a Comprehensive Change Catalog in ServiceDesk Plus

Implementing a Comprehensive Change Catalog in ServiceDesk Plus

Dear Community,

We are excited to introduce a document designed to streamline the management of frequently occurring changes within ServiceDesk Plus. This document( Attached) provides a detailed guide on creating a Change Catalog, a interim approach that overcomes current limitations by enabling prefilled stage data for various change types, including standard, emergency, and service changes.

Key Highlights:

  1. Challenge Addressed:

    • Currently, ServiceDesk Plus does not support the auto-population of fields across different stages (e.g., Rollout Plan, Backout Plan) in change templates. This can be cumbersome when dealing with numerous regular changes.
  2. Solution Overview:

    • Standard Catalog: Ideal for changes like "Monthly Security Patch Deployment for Servers." This catalog allows auto-filling of details like Impact, Rollout, Backout Plan, Checklist, and Implementation tasks, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
    • Emergency Catalog: Designed for urgent scenarios such as "Restoration of Critical Server Failure," enabling rapid response with predefined workflows and tasks.
    • Service Change Catalog: Suitable for service-related changes like "CRM System Upgrade," facilitating the seamless handling of repetitive actions within services.
