How to troubleshoot the Tenant already exists issue while configuring the Cloud Directory in ADAudit Plus

Objective  

This article helps you resolve the Tenant already exists error that may occur when configuring the Cloud Directory in ADAudit Plus.

Prerequisites  

  • You must have administrator access to the ADAudit Plus web console.

  • You need administrator access to your organization's Microsoft Entra ID portal.

  • You should have the necessary application ID, client secret, and tenant ID for the configuration.

Possible causes  

  • This issue occurs when Microsoft Entra ID has been configured with a custom domain name that is the same as the on-premises AD domain name already configured in ADAudit Plus.

  • ADAudit Plus does not support linking the same domain name for both on-premises AD and Microsoft Entra ID, which causes a conflict during configuration.

Resolution  

  1. Go to the Microsoft Entra ID portal and log in.

  2. Navigate to Microsoft Entra ID > Custom Domain Names.

  3. In the Custom Domain Names section, identify the default tenant name that ends with onmicrosoft.com (e.g., yourdomain.onmicrosoft.com).

  4. Return to the ADAudit Plus web console.

  5. When configuring the Cloud Directory, use the tenant name that ends in .onmicrosoft.com instead of your custom domain name (e.g., use yourdomain.onmicrosoft.com, not yourdomain.com).

  6. Complete the configuration with the .onmicrosoft.com name and click Save.
