This article explains how to configure and schedule a custom File/Folder Change report in ADAudit Plus while applying filters to exclude specific file types. This allows administrators to monitor critical file activity while ignoring irrelevant extensions, reducing noise and improving audit clarity.
Prerequisites
Have access to the ADADAudit Plus web console.
Have an administrator role or a technician account with delegated permissions to create a custom report.
File servers must be properly configured and enabled in ADAudit Plus, and they should be collecting logs without any errors.
Steps to follow:
Log in to the ADAudit Plus web console as an administrator or with a technician account with delegated permissions to create or modify a custom report.
Go to Analytics, select Custom Report, and click Create Custom Report.
Enter an appropriate name along with a relevant description.
Select the desired report type based on your requirements.
Tabular View: Displays data in a simple table format (graph is optional).
Graphical View: Presents data using various chart types for visual analysis.
Summary View: Shows grouped data with subtotals for easier interpretation.
Pivot View: Summarizes data in a grid format with both horizontal and vertical.
Under Select Report Category, choose File Activity, then select the appropriate Sub Module(s) as needed.
Click Next.
Choose the columns you want to display in the custom report.
Expand the Filters section and click Add Filters.
Set the Attribute to File Type.
Choose Not Equals as the Operator.
Type the File Types you want to exclude. NOTE: To exclude more than one file type, separate each entry with a semicolon.
Expand the Scheduler section and set the desired frequency for generating the report. If you'd like the custom report to be emailed each time the schedule runs, enable the Email this scheduled Report option.
Save the report.
Validation and confirmation
After configuring the custom report, go to Analytics > Custom Report, and click View Reports next to the respective custom report to verify that events are displayed according to the customizations applied.
Tips
Test filter logic before scheduling. Use a known dataset to ensure the custom filters behave as expected.
Periodically check whether scheduled reports are successfully delivered and if recipients are actually receiving them.
