How to restore AD groups using RecoveryManager Plus

Active Directory (AD) groups play a crucial role in managing user permissions and access control in an organization's network. They enable administrators to efficiently manage user permissions, access control, and resource sharing by grouping users with similar roles or access needs. When an AD group is accidentally modified or deleted, it can disrupt workflows and create security issues. In such cases, restoring deleted AD groups quickly and accurately helps maintain business operations.

  4. Specify the approximate time period within which the group(s) was modified in the Select backup field and click Search. Once the period is specified, the number of backups made during this period is listed. Select the backup in which the object to be restored is present.

  5. Click the icon at the top-right to search for specific objects. You can filter objects based on the following criteria: OUs, Object Type, Object Name, sAMAccountName, Description, Email, or All Attributes.

    • Filter the OU(s) where the groups you want to restore are present.

    • Select Object Type. By default, all the object types will be listed.

    • To narrow down the search for a particular group, select Object Name and enter your search term in the text box provided. To add another search criterion, click the icon and provide the criteria. Add as many criteria as required and click Apply. All objects that fit the entered criteria are displayed.

  6. Click either the Simple Restore or Granular Restore radio button at the top-left.

    • Simple Restore displays the current value and the value in the selected backup. You can either choose to restore a version completely or selectively restore a particular attribute(s).

    • Granular Restore is the comparative view, where the current value of an object's attribute is compared with all its previous values in the selected time range.
