Objective: To move the ADManager Plus installation folder from its current location to a new location.
Important:
Check the build number of your current ADManager Plus installation (Log into ADManager Plus > Click the License link located in the top-right corner to know the build number).
Access this link and find out if you are running on the latest build. If not, download the service pack of the latest build and update your ADManager Plus installation to the latest build.
Steps to move ADManager Plus to a new folder
Stop ADManager Plus by navigating to Start > All Programs > ADManager Plus > Stop ADManager Plus or Start > Run > services.msc > Stop the ManageEngine ADManager Plus service.
Open the Command Prompt as an administrator.
Navigate to ADManager Plus installation directory/bin folder.
Run the backupDB.bat file to back up the database of your current installation. This will create a folder named Backup in the installation directory which will contain the database in a compressed file format.
For example: OfflineBackup_20161129235853.ezip.
Take a copy of the product's current installation Patch (default path: C:\Program Files\ManageEngine\ADManager Plus\Patch) folder available in the installation directory.
Download and install the latest build of ADManager Plus on the new location.
Do not immediately start this new installation of ADManager Plus. This can be done by unchecking the Start ADManager Plus in console mode option in the setup window.
After the previous step, copy the compressed database backup file created from the old installation's bin folder and paste it in the new installation's bin folder.
For example: D:\ManageEngine\ADManager Plus\bin
Create a new folder named Patch_new in the new location and paste the patch folder that you had copied from the old installation's bin folder.
Restore the backup located in the bin folder, by following the steps listed below.
Open the Command Prompt with the ADManager Plus service account.
Navigate to <New Installation Directory>\ADManager Plus\bin using the cd <drive name>: command, and execute the command given below:
restoreDB.bat <backup file name> -p
For example: restoreDB.bat OfflineBackup_20210116225934.ezip -p
The password to open the backup folder will be the reverse string of the filename.
For example: 43952261101202_pukcaBenilffO
For ADManager Plus builds 7130 and above
When you are prompted for a password while restoring backup, copy and paste the CryptTag value from the customer-config.xml file of your old instance. The CryptTag value is the default database password and is used only when a password is not specified in the Security and Privacy settings of ADManager Plus. If you have specified a password, use the same in the password prompt.
Now, start ADManager Plus by going to Start > All Programs > ADManager Plus > Start ADManager Plus.
Once the new installation configuration is successful, you can delete the old instance's folder.
