How to integrate ADManager Plus with Azure SQL database

ADManager Plus can be integrated with a list of databases to facilitate efficient AD management. This specific integration with Azure SQL database allows administrators to synergistically manage AD objects from their Azure SQL instance itself.


Actions supported

Upon integration, administrators can configure automations to carry out desired tasks. These automations can be monitored and controlled by implementing multi-level business workflows, which ensure that they are reviewed and approved before execution. The following actions can be automated:

  • Create user accounts

  • Add users to groups

  • Modify user attributes

  • Remove users from groups

  • Modify user accounts by template

  • Create mailbox

  • Reset passwords

  • Disable or delete mailbox

  • Unlock user accounts

  • Move home folder

  • Enable user accounts

  • Delete home folder

  • Disable user accounts

  • Revoke Microsoft 365 licenses

  • Delete user accounts

  • Manage user photos

  • Run custom scripts

  • Disable Lync accounts

  • Move users across groups

  • Configure auto reply settings

 

Steps to integrate ADManager Plus with Azure SQL database:

  1. Log in to ADManager Plus and navigate to the Automation tab.

  1. In the left pane, under Configuration, click Applications Integrations.

  1. Under Databases, click Microsoft SQL Server.

  1. In the Server Details section, configure the following:

    • Server Name: Enter the name of your Azure SQL server.

    • Instance Name: Enter your Azure SQL instance name and port number.

    • Authentication: Select Azure Active Directory - Password as the authentication type and enter the username and password of the Azure AD user account.

  1. Click Test Connection and Save to establish the connection and save the settings.

 

Note:

  • Click the Add Server option to configure multiple Azure SQL servers.

  • The Enable Integration button is turned on by default. Toggle it off to disable this integration. 

 

Upon successful integration, transfer data seamlessly to and from your Azure SQL instance and perform the tasks mentioned in the above sections without any hassle by selecting MS SQL as the data source while configuring an automation. To know more, click here.
