How to install EventLog Analyzer as a Windows service

Objective

Installing EventLog Analyzer as a Windows service ensures the application starts automatically with the operating system and runs continuously in the background. This setup is essential for uninterrupted log collection, alerting, and reporting in production environments.

Prerequisite

  1. You must have administrative privileges on the server where EventLog Analyzer is installed.

Steps to follow

Step 1: Open the Command Prompt as an Administrator.
Step 2: Navigate to the installation folder: <Installation Directory>\ManageEngine\EventLog Analyzer\bin
Step 3: Run the batch file: service.bat -i
Step 4: A confirmation message appears once the service is installed.

Step 5: Open services.msc and verify that ManageEngine EventLog Analyzer is listed and its startup type is Automatic.

Tips

  • Installing as a service guarantees EventLog Analyzer auto‑starts after every reboot, eliminating manual intervention.
  • It's ideal for production environments where continuous log monitoring is critical.
  • Manage the service at any time via services.msc
  • Always run the Command Prompt as an Administrator when executing service.bat -i.
