How to fix errors when restoring archived data?

Issue description

When attempting to load or defrost archived data for File Audit reports, the process fails. The status column in the Available Archived Data screen shows errors such as:
  • Error - EXCEPTION while processing defrost-request, unable to find the raw file for archive block
  • Error - EXCEPTION while parsing file[...], total error lines : [...]

This issue is often observed after the ADAudit Plus application has been moved to a new server.

Prerequisites

  • You must have administrator access to the server where ADAudit Plus is installed.

  • You need permissions to access and browse the product's installation folders and configuration files.

Possible causes

  • The error messages indicate that the archive files are either missing from their expected location or are unparseable.
  • The configured archive path in ADAudit Plus is incorrect, which is common after a server migration.

Resolution

Follow these steps to verify the configured archive path and confirm that the necessary files are present.

Step 1: Find the configured archive path

  1. Navigate to the ADAudit Plus installation directory on the server.
  2. Go to the following folder: {product_home}\apps\dataengine-xnode\conf\datarepository.
  3. Open the archive-locations.conf file in a text editor.

  4. Identify the archive location for the block that is marked as enabled and note the specified path.

Step 2: Verify the archive files exist

  1. From the ADAudit Plus UI, copy the name of an archive file that is showing an error from the File Name column.
  2. Using File Explorer, navigate to the archive location path you identified in the previous step.
  3. Go into the FileAudit subfolder.

  4. Search for the file name you copied and verify whether it is physically present in this location.

How to reach support

If the archive files are present in the correct location but you still receive errors when trying to restore them, please contact our support team. When you reach out, please include a screenshot of the archive location showing the files that are present but still causing errors.
