How to configure the AD synchronization time interval in ADSelfService Plus

Objective     

This article explains how to modify the time interval of the Active Directory (AD) synchronization (ADSynchronizer) in ADSelfService Plus. Adjusting the synchronization interval ensures that user and group data in ADSelfService Plus stays up to date with your AD environment.

Prerequisite     

  • You need administrative access to ADSelfService Plus.

Steps to change the AD synchronization time interval     

Method 1: Change the interval from the Dashboard Updater 

  1. Log in to ADSelfService Plus using administrator credentials.
  2. Navigate to Admin > Product Settings > Dashboard Updater > AD Synchronizer.
  3. Click the Edit icon under the Actions column next to the AD Synchronizer schedule.
  4. Select a preferred interval: Hourly, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.
    NotesNote: We recommended setting the AD synchronizer schedule to sync every 4 hours for optimal performance and timely data updates.
  5. Click Save to apply the changes.

Method 2: Change the interval in Domain Settings 

  1. Navigate to Domain Settings > Schedule AD Synchronizer.

  2. Choose the desired synchronization interval (e.g., hourly or daily).

  3. Click Save to update the schedule.

Method 3: Immediate synchronization (Manual sync) 

If you need to synchronize AD data instantly,

  1. Click Domain Settings in the top-right corner.

  2. Under the Actions column for the respective domain, click the Update Domain Objects icon.

  3. Select either all objects or specific objects you want to synchronize immediately.

  4. Click OK to confirm the action and perform an immediate AD data update.
