How to Backup and Restore Vector Wise DB in Windows Server

Backup:
  • Stop the NetFlow Analyzer service
  • Open a command prompt as Administrator and navigate to NetFlow\bin Execute VWstartdb.bat (Please ignore, if you get a message "Vectorwise is already running.  Use ingstop to shut down Vectorwise.")
  • Create a new folder to which the backup has to be saved Eg. C:\NFA backup
  • In command prompt navigate to C:\NFA backup
  • Excute copydb netflow  { The above command will create two script files named copy.in and copy.out}
  • Excute sql netflow < copy.out {This will start coping the database. Please wait and continue the restore process.}
  • Once complete copy the backup folder (C:\NFA backup) to New server. {Note: the directory structure for the backup folder should be same in the new server (C:\NFA backup) }

 Restore:
  • Once the folder is copied to the new server follow the below steps to restore.
  •  {Note: the directory structure of the backup folder should be same as in the old server (C:\NFA backup) }
  • Stop the Netflow Analyzer service.
  • Open a command prompt as Administrator and navigate to NetFlow\bin Execute VWstartdb.bat
  • If HighPerf installed on NetFlow Analyzer server execute VWcreatedb.bat, if VW is installed on remote server you can skip this step.
  • In command prompt navigate to C:\NFA backup .
  • Execute sql netflow < copy.in
  • Start the NetFlow Analyzer service
