How to automatically reinstate revoked licenses of users

How to automatically reinstate revoked licenses of users

Objective

This article explains how to automatically reinstate user licenses that were previously revoked in ADSelfService Plus. Administrators often revoke licenses for users who are inactive, locked out, or have not logged in for an extended period. When these users return—such as after a leave, password reset, or account unlock—manually restoring their licenses can be time-consuming and prone to error, especially in large environments.

Automating the reinstatement process ensures timely access for users and reduces administrative effort.

Prerequisite

  • Administrative access to the ADSelfService Plus portal

Steps to follow

  1. Log in to ADSelfService Plus portal using administrator credentials.
  2. Navigate to Admin > License Management > Restrict Users.
  3. Click the Schedule to Restrict/Unrestrict button at the top-right corner.
  4. In the Unrestrict tab, select the domain for which you want to configure automatic reinstatement.
  5. Check the box labeled Enable scheduler to unrestrict users.
  6. Choose the specific types of users you want to be automatically unrestricted.
  7. Click Save.
