Issue description
When attempting to restore or defrost archived data, the process fails with the following error message: EXCEPTION while processing defrost-request, unable to find the raw file for archive block. This prevents access to archived historical audit data.
Prerequisites
You must have administrator access to the ADAudit Plus web console.
You need to know the correct network or local path where the archive files are stored.
You must have permissions to browse the contents of the archive folder.
Possible causes
This error indicates that ADAudit Plus cannot find the necessary source files to restore the archived data. The common causes are:
The archive folder location changed due to a server migration, but the new path wasn't updated in the ADAudit Plus settings.
The archive folder was manually moved to a new path, and this change was not reflected in the ADAudit Plus configuration.
The specific raw data files required for the defrost request are physically missing or were deleted from the configured archive location.
Resolution
Follow these steps to diagnose and resolve the issue.
Step 1: Verify the configured archive path
Log in to the ADAudit Plus web console.
Navigate to the Admin tab > Administration > Archive Settings.
Note the location specified in the Archive files to field. This is the path where the application expects to find the files.
Step 2: Verify the actual archive folder location
Using File Explorer, browse to the actual location on your network or server where the archive data is currently stored.
Compare this actual path with the path you noted from the Archive Settings in step one.
Step 3: Update the archive path if mismatched
If the path configured in ADAudit Plus is different from the actual location, update the path in the Archive Settings to point to the correct folder.
Click Save and attempt the defrost request again.
Step 4: Check for missing files
If the configured path is correct but the error persists, browse the contents of the archive folder. The error indicates that the specific raw files for the requested time period are not in that folder.
If you have a backup of your archive directory, you will need to restore the missing files from the relevant time period to the archive location.
