Error message: The attribute syntax specified to the directory service is invalid
Reasons:
1. This error occurs when you are trying to input a blank value for an attribute in the CSV file.
2. This error can also occur when the DN or a particular attribute syntax is not correct.
3. This error can also occur when you are modifying multiple users and you try to remove (or making the value as blank) a non-existing attribute.
Resolution:
Log in to ADManager Plus using the default admin account and try creating a test account. If this works, then there is no issue with the product and you will have to check if the technician has enough privileges to create a user by following the steps listed below.
Navigate to the Delegation tab > Help Desk Delegation > Help Desk Roles and click on the role that is assigned to the technician.
Click User Attribute Privileges and make sure the necessary attributes are checked.
Now save the role and try creating a user account using the technician's account.
Make sure that if you are using a CSV file that there is no blank value for the attribute in CSV file.
Some other solutions would be to:
Check if the custom attribute has been properly defined in Active Directory.
Check if the attribute's syntax is correct and does not contain invalid characters or syntax errors.
