Error Code: 5 Access is denied (Terminal service / Folder Creation)

Error Code: 5 Access is denied (Terminal service / Folder Creation)

Possible Reasons : 

1. User does not have the rights to create a home folder.

2. User does not have access to terminal services.

3. The home folder is either not shared or does not have full permissions assigned to users.

4. User might be entering the incorrect server name in the path field.

 

Possible solutions:

1. Verify if the folder chosen as the Home Folder is shared and ensure that it is located on the NTFS drive.

  1. To share a folder, right-click on it and select Properties.

  1. Go to Sharing tab and click Advanced Sharing.

  1. Select the checkbox Share this folder checkbox.

  1. Click on Permissions and assign the full permissions to everyone.

  1. Click Apply to save the settings.

 

2. Make sure that the Home Folder path for the active directory user is entered correctly. The syntax for the home folder should be \\ServerName\SharedFolder\%username%

NOTE:  

  • You can enter the ServerName value as the name of system where you have the shared folder or the domain name. It is suggested to use the IP address of the system.

  • You can enter the SharedFolder value as the name of shared folder.

  • You can enter the user name value in the %username%.
