Configuration of Sites_Best Practice


To configure multiple sites with customized / similar configurations, We have multiple options while creating a site.

Refer Default settings:

If you have common configurations for all your sites. Create those sites with Refer settings. This will improve the performance of the product and you can save your time by creating for every site.



Use case : If you have 100 sites and all those sites are having similar configuration then create that site with “Refer Default settings”. Now create your configurations under Default Settings.



Copy settings :


If a site is created with Copy settings, then the default settings will be copied and you can make changes on it.



Use Case : If you have 10 sites and most of the configurations are same as Default Settings and if you want to add one more criteria to it, then create the site with Copy Default settings. This will copy those configurations and after that you can add your changes to it.



Custom settings:


If a site is created with Custom settings it will have its own settings.


Explanation with Usecase :


1. If all your sites are having “Tuesday 1 January as New Year’s Day” which is a Holiday, then you can create all your sites with “Related Settings” -> Choose How to Configure? as “Refer Default Settings” . How to do ?

a. Navigate to -> Admin -> Account Details -> Sites -> Add New Site -> Create site with “Related Settings” -> Choose How to Configure? as “Refer Default Settings”

b. Choose All Accounts in the Header combo while doing the below.

c. Now Navigate  Admin -> Account Details -> Holidays , Select “All Accounts” and
d. choose Account Details – Holidays for “Default Settings”

e. Under this Default Settings -> Click Add New Holiday -> Provide the date and Description and save it.


2. If all your sites are having “Tuesday 1 January as New Year’s Day” which is a Common Holiday and one more Holiday “Thursday 26 December” which is site specific then you can create that site with “Related Settings” -> Choose How to Configure? as “Copy Default Settings”. How to do ?



a.Navigate  Admin -> Account Details -> Sites -> Add New Site -> Create site with “Related Settings” -> Choose How to Configure? as “Copy Default Settings”

b.Choose Specific Account in the Header combo while doing the below.

c. Now Navigate to Admin -> Account Details -> Holidays , Select “Specific Account” and choose Account Details – Holidays for “-Select your site-”

d. Under this Click Add New Holiday -> Provide the date and Description and save it.

e.Since it is created with “Copy Default Settings”, Default Holidays(New Year’s Day) and your site specific Holidays will be created under your specific site.



If there are any changes in the Default Settings, it will be pushed to this site as well. So you can avoid multiple changes in various areas.


3. If your site is unique and you don’t have any similar configurations, then create your site with “Custom settings”. How to do ?


Navigate  -> Admin -> Account Details -> Sites -> Add New Site -> Create site with “Related Settings” -> Choose How to Configure? as “Custom settings”
