How to install an Agent?

  1. If you want to install an agent from EventLog Analyzer server, please navigate to "Settings -> Admin Settings -> Manage Agents".
  2. Enter the agent name, domain name, login name and password. (Make sure you enter domain admin name/local admin name to install the agent on the remote machine).
  3. Note: These credentials are only meant for installing the agent on the remote machine and it is not meant for log collection.

EventLog Analyzer uses the 8400 for the remote agent to server TCP communication:

8400 (TCP)

TCP port for EventLog Analyzer remote agent-server communication

EventLog Analyzer uses the TCP port for the remote agent-server communication. Ensure that the port is free and not occupied by other local applications running in the machine. This port should be opened in the firewall.

Note: During automatic agent installation, the WMI, RPC, and DCOM ports are used once.

 

EventLog Analyzer uses the following ports for local agent to server UDP communication:

5000, 5001, 5002 (UDP)

UDP port for EventLog Analyzer local agent-server communication

EventLog Analyzer uses the UDP port internally for the agent-server communication. Ensure that the ports are free and not occupied by other local applications running in the machine. Some additional higher range ports (1024-65534) will be opened to connect with these ports for internal communication.

 

If login permissions are not set and if agent installation fails, you can install the agent manually.

  1. If you opt for a manual installation, then copy "EventLogAgent.msi" file from the location "<EventLog Analyzer Home>\ManageEngine\EventLog Analyzer\lib\native".
  2. When you run "EventLogAgent.msi" file, you can see "ManageEngine EventLog Analyzer - Agent" wizard.
  3. Please click on "Next".
  4. Enter "Server name, Server IP address, Server Database (default: Postgres), Server protocol (default:http), AWS Instance (default: No), Server port (default:8400)".
  5. Please enter all the above instructions correctly and click on "OK" to complete the installation.
