WSUS Versus Desktop Central Patch Update

WSUS Versus Desktop Central Patch Update

I am currently using the Desktop Central demo with two test Windows XP workstations. The features offered for remote management are great, but I have concerns regarding the patch update feature.

I realize that not everything microsoft releases via Windows Update is required to keep a system secure and that appears to be the focus of the patch management feature in Desktop Central. Tell me if I am wrong on that assumption.

Does it make sense to use both WSUS and the patch management feature to keep workstations updated?

Is there a way to configure the local Windows Update settings on the workstations using Desktop Central rather than a group policy in AD?

I would like to hear from other admins if they are using a combination of them or just one or the other.
