Can someone explain why I if I shutdown an interface on my firewall I WAS getting a message like this

Message: Interface 'Adaptive Security Appliance 'inside' interface - inside' is shutdown. Interface description is 'Adaptive Security Appliance 'inside' interface' and index is 5. Circuit ID not configured.
