Which is Better methodology- Storing the asset specifications as Combination of values in Single field or storing the specifications in multiple Additional Fields interpreted as combination of each other.

We have different types of UPSs, Printers and Scanners are a part of our IT infrastructure.

1. The UPS are of Line Interactive & Online Types. The Capacity of the UPS are of Different KVA and VAh combinations. Should we list all the specifications and types of UPS in the list of models or shoud we only list model names in the Product List and have the additional fields to indicate specifications of the UPS like the KVA & VAh. For example, should we have list of UPS indicating them as Line Interactive UPS (1KVA, 168VAh OR 0.5KVA, 108VAh etc), Online UPS (5KVA, 500VAh or 10 KVA, 700VAh etc). Or should we have different fields for list of Types of UPS as Line Interactive UPS, Online UPS and then have additional fields for the KVA and VAh values.

 

2. Similarly the Printers are of Laserjet, Inkjet with A4 as well as A3 capacities with different PPM speeds. Should we have different combinations of Printer types, speeds, paper sizes listed in single field of Printer product types or should we have different fields each for printer size, printer speed, printer types.

 

Basically what I mean to say is that should I have one field which lists all possible combinations of equipment types, equipment speeds, equipment specifications merged with each other, or should we have multiple fields each listing different type values and the actual specificaitons of the equipment being read as a combination of different fields.
