What ports to open on remote sites ?

I'm a newbe for opmanager so I hope this isn't a silly question.
We are using opmanager (MSP build 6005) for monitoring the networks of our customers. Although we are not using the software at it's full power (we just don't have the time to do everything at once) we are very happy with the software.
Now for letting the probe do it's full functionality (using inventory and security) we have to open many ports on the firewall. (that is: as far as we know). We wouldn't want to open that many ports on the firewalls of our customers. Isn't there a way to just open 1 or 2 ports and let all the traffic go through that ports ?
