What is the Calculation formula of the traffic in/out in netflow analyzer?
Hi,
Our client raised a question about netflow IN/OUT traffic report that we need an answer from the vendor.
The scenario:
We are monitoring our client network traffic, our NMC detected high traffic utilization on an VLAN of our client network device. The utilization last about 2 hours and normalized. This kind of incident will happen once or twice a week.
However, when we generate monthly traffic report from netflow analyzer which we have configured the VLAN, the total traffic in/out does not tally with the incident that we detected. For example, in the monthly report, it shows total 819.56MB of IN traffic and 24.67M of OUT traffic, we add up together it is still less than 1G. The report also showing the utilization is calculated with the speed of 1.0Gbps. The Max 1min only 0.02%. See image.
Our client asked, how can it be possible the total of traffic a month is less than 900MB showing in the netflow report when the interface bandwidth highly utilized last about 2 hours each time in a month?
Our NMC is configured to poll the interface utilization on every 4 minutes basis.
We are using the following NetFlow Analyzer version.

Kindly advise how netflow works on this calculation and how and what the data being captured.
Thank you.
