What impact does Netflow data have on a heavily utilised link

What impact does Netflow data have on a heavily utilised link

Hi,

I have a link that is heavily utilised and I want to find out which applications are generating most traffic. However I am concerned that if I start exporting Netflow data then this will make the link worse.

Are there any stats as to how much bandwidth Netflow data consumes on a WAN link?
