Wanting to know the difference between these fields within Inventory
I was just wondering what the difference between these fields within the Inventory section are, and where it is getting its information from within the systems.
Primary Owner - This I believe is retrieved from the client Windows OS Registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\RegisteredOwner
Owner - appears to be a manual setting. I'm assuming this would be used in an environment where machines change hands fairly frequently.
Registered User - I'm not sure where this information is being pulled from or what it would be used for. Not sure how this differs from Primary Owner. If I do a google search on either of the two terms, I get results stating to edit the exact same registry key as I described above.
Asset Tag - This I believe is being retrieved from the BIOS of the device itself. Looking at my CSV output of the units I have, it looks like some of the units have our company asset information as assigned in the BIOS, some have the serial numbers of the units, some have the product number of the unit, a few say no asset tag, and others are completely blank. This does not appear to be an editable field. Why would some be blank versus saying no asset tag?
