Various Questions about SDP 6

Various Questions about SDP 6

Hi All,

Me again.... ;) - I have a couple of questions about ServiceDesk.

1) AD Requesters scan - old users

When importing these users, it seems to add a load that are old / no longer with us. How do we stop this..? Do they need to be deleted (moved) from the AD OU, or just disabled...? As I think we have them disabled at mo, and still they get imported.

2) AD Requesters scan - over writing current data..?

I read on the application, that when ya re-run/import the users into SDP, any previous ones get overwritten. So if I already scanned them, and then typed what dept, room they use. If I re-run the scan/import, will all these changes be lost..? or will it keep that data..?

3) Assign a room (/and batch of computers) to a requester?

Is it possible in SDP to assign a computer room to a requester, that has say 30x computers attached to that user...? So that when the requester logs into SDP to log a faulty computer, they are only shown their bank of computers and no one elses...?

4) Some software not being scanned?

When doing a scan on computers, for some reason it doesnt pick up Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise...? But it does show Office 2007 Compatibility pack that is installed on Office 2003 computers..?

5) Scanning Hardware

When you run a scan on the network, not every computer will be turned on on the network. The ones that are, have all their info scanned, hardware specs, names, software installed and so on.... If this computer is then turned off on the next scan, does the previously recorded data get wiped with blank info, or the old data still remain..? - also what happens if the computer picks up a new IP address, as they are set on a 3x day lease. Does it resolve the audit per DNS name of computer rather than IP..? So as long as it has the same name, it wont loose the data..?

6) Templates

Is there a place/link where you can download pre-made templates, that you can them customise for your work place..?

Many thanks,

HCTC
