using the LED Panel display for our application

Thanks for my previous posts.
Now I am having the requirement, by using the LED(which will display in Client status bar, right now it is enable in clientparameter.conf file and not displaying anything i.e means the blinking area is white color) user has to know that some work is pending. can I able to use one of the LED display area to my usage. if so how can i use them? (please give the example)
And another one, can i able to change the background color of the LED Panel, from black to grey?
