User Provisioning series - part - 5

User Provisioning series - part - 5

Over the last few weeks, we had been putting up explainers on how to automate user provisioning, set up HR-driven user provisioning, and more. If you missed it, click here to catch up on it.

Often, organizations delegate tasks like help desk operations, user provisioning, IT asset management, etc. for ease of administration. ADManager Plus' granular delegation functions allow the administrator to ensure security best practices, like granting only minimum access, are met. Delegate management and reporting tasks specific to Domains, OU and even groups, to the desired users and groups, with option to monitor and control their execution.

This week's post will take you through the steps to delegate the user provisioning operation to help desk technicians.

How to delegate user provisioning to help desk technicians?

    1. Navigate to Delegation > Help Desk Delegation > Help Desk Technicians.

    2. Click on the edit icon, next to the built-in Help Desk technician account.

Note: Click on the Create new help desk technician to create new technician accounts, if needed.

    3. Select the domains and OUs for which you would like to give access to the technician.

    4. Under Select Roles, select 'Create Users'. You can also choose the templates that the technician is allowed to use, from the Assign Templates option.

Note : You can create new roles or modify new roles by navigating to Delegation > Help Desk Delegation > Help Desk Roles. To know more about this, head to this page.

    5. Check the Impersonate as Admin option, if you wish to assign admin permissions to the technicians being created.

Note : The Impersonate as Admin option elevates the users' permissions only in ADManager Plus and does not change their actual settings in Active Directory.

    6. Click Save Changes.

Tune in next week, for the last part of this series to know how to configure workflows to review and approve the user provisioning tasks.

Cheers,
Team ADManager Plus.
