We are preparing a "User Creation Template" to allow our Servicedesk to create specific users only in 365 - so without DirSync.

However we noticed that the Manager field in the Contact tab does not work for creating 365-only users. The user is created with license, mailbox etc but the only property missing in 365 is Manager even though we filled it using the template.

The Manager property works in our templates for users that work with DirSync but that's probably because the value is saved to the OnPrem object & then synched through AAD Connect.

How can we make the Manager property work in User Creation Templates for creating (non-DirSynched) 365 users?

We are on version 7.2.0 build 7222.
