Sometimes, organizations may have users with identical names and this might pose a problem during user creation. However, with ADManager Plus' user creation templates, you can easily check for duplicates at domain or forest level.

The drag-n-drop option of user creation templates can be used to configure the following settings to handle duplicates in logon name or pre-Windows 2000 logon name:

Apply a different naming format.
Add a suffix.
Don't create the user having duplicate values.

Procedure:

Step 1: Go to AD Mgmt --> User Management --> User Creation Templates.
Step 2: Click Create New Template.
Step 3: Click the button Enable Drag -n- Drop.
Step 4: Move the cursor to the field for which you want to check duplicates (logon name, pre-Windows 2000 name, display name, etc.) and click edit.
Step 5: Select the option Check for duplicates at and specify either domain or forest in this. Also, specify how you want to handle the duplicates. Then, click Done.

Step 6: Click Disable drag-n-drop and save the template.

While creating the users, you can select this template and the settings to manage duplicates in logon name or pre-Windows 2000 name will be automatically applied.
