Unable to Monitor Processes
Folks,
I'm trying to monitor a process on our database server running Tru64 UNIX which is being monitored using SNMP (There's no SNMP monitoring option for Tru64 so I had to fake it out by classifying the host as a Solaris host - everything works fine). It reports all process information when I run snmpwalk against it so I know it's picking up the appropriate information. However, it always marks the process as being "down" even when I can log on to the host and see the process running using the "ps" command.
Here's what I do to attempt process monitoring:
[list=1:b676bf7072]
*  Search for the host on my AppManager server and click on the host (not any of the services e.g. Apache etc).
*  In the "Host Details" menu on the right I click on "Add Process Monitoring
*  In the pop-up window that lists all processes on the host I look for the process (of which only one instance is running) and check the box next to it and click on the "Add Process" button at the bottom. I notice there is no data in the "Process Name" field and a "-" in the CPU Utilization % field.
*  It adds a process into the "Process Details" section of the host monitor which has nothing in the "name" and "process" fields and availability and health are grayed out. I click on the Edit icon for this process and see that of the three fields in the process monitor, only "Command and Args" is filled. The other two fields (which are the required fields named "Display Name" and "Process Name") are not filled.
*  I let AppManager poll the host to see if the process is running but it returns with critical for health and availability. Root cause: "The resource is not available. The Process is not running.The Process name and Command ora_smon_lawprod is not running." There is a link for "List of Process Running in this Server" which I click and I find the process running.
*  I edit the process monitor and put the process name (as seen in the process listing within AppManager) in the "Display Name" and "Process Name" fields and poll it again. No luck.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
