Unable to get CLI credentials to work on Procurve switch

Hi.

I have a trail version of OpManger Professional v8 build 8010.

I am trying to get it to talk to one of our HP Procurve 2610 switches via CLI which I am hoping will give me more information than just using SNMP does.

At the moment I am seeing no traffic stats for the switch ports at all.

However, no matter how I try and configure CLI, it always fails the test authentication.

I can Telnet in ok and I get the following prompts:

Press an key to continue
Username:
Password:

and then the switch name with a # on the end as the command prompt.

I have tried configuring the CLI credentials with both the text and just the : and # on their own, but nothing seems to work.

Can anyone shed any light on:

a) what extra stuff logging in via CLI will give me
b) given the Telnet responses, how should I configure CLI?
