Tracking and Allocating Software Licenses

Tracking and Allocating Software Licenses

We currently have purchased Visual Studio licenses per user that allow for multiple installs; one install on a users primary workstation system as well multiple installations on virtual test system(s). This also includes downgrade rights from the original license to previous version(s). You thus end up, for example, with a single user license that may have 2, 3 or more installations based on that single license purchase.

The issue we are running into is that we need to be able to allocate each of the installs to a single license much like a 'Named User License' where you can allocate multiple systems to a single license. However when you select this type of license model in the configuration, it shows it as "Unlimited" licenses are purchased when in fact you only have one (1) license purchased with multiple installs.

If the configuration reflects correctly that  you only have one (1) license purchased, then you cannot allocate additional installs again that single license. The challenge is that the number of purchased licenses can be different than the number of allowed installs and allocations, yet the view still needs to reflect the number of licenses purchased.
