User Acceptance Testing

Definition — What is UAT?

The term UAT stands for User Acceptance Testing also known as Beta, Application, or End-User Testing. UAT is often considered as the last phase of testing and is performed to evaluate an application’s compliance with the business requirements and assess whether the application is acceptable for delivery. In UAT, users are given a chance to interact with the software before the official release and see if any features have been overlooked or contain bugs, the designated individual within the organization will analyze and collect data to be conveyed back to the developers. There will be many forms of testing that occur in the full lifecycle and development of software or applications. Including UAT as one of the tools in the development of projects will reduce the probability of unexpected issues.
