Piconet, meaning tiny network, also known as Bluetooth personal area network, is a network that is created using a wireless Bluetooth connection. Communication of bluetooth devices follow a master-slave configuration that is formed when at least two devices connect, there can be up to seven active and 255 inactive slave devices.
When a piconet is formed, one device acts as the master while the others act as slaves for the piconet connection. However, a slave in one piconet can be a master in another, creating a chain of piconets called a "scatternet" that extends the distance between all devices.
