“Internet of Behaviors”
Definition — What is an IoB?
As you may all know IoT refers to a system of interrelated, internet-connected objects that are able to collect and transfer data over a wireless network without human intervention. The collection of usage and data by the IoT devices provides valuable insights into users’ behaviors, interests, and preferences. This is referred to as the Internet of Behaviors. This can reveal broader consumer behavior patterns as well as specific consumer targeting.
The emerging IoB technology is expected to open numerous possibilities in business, personal finance, the workplace, and much more. Organizations can use this data to influence human behavior. For example, to monitor compliance with health protocols during the ongoing pandemic, organizations might leverage IoB via computer vision to see whether employees are wearing masks or via thermal imaging to identify those with a fever. One other example can be wearable devices like fitness bands or the smartwatch tracing pulse and location of the owner.
Gartner has predicted that IoB will become more as a part of human life with over 3 billion people being under its influence by 2023. It will be the ecosystem that has defined human behavior in a digital world.
