"DomainKeys Identified Mail"

Definition — What is DKIM?

DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is an email authentication protocol designed to validate the email so that the receiving mail server identifies the sender. It makes sure that messages weren’t modified when they were in transit. It offers more security for the sender and for those who receive an email.

DKIM is a superior method of authentication to Sender Policy Framework (SPF) because it survives most forwarding and you can ensure the message has not been tampered with in transit. Implementing DKIM lets companies verify that messages were sent from authorized servers by using "public key cryptography."
