Definition — What is CTR and why is it important?

CTR, the acronym for Click-Through Rate is the most common metric for measuring engagement within an email campaign.

It is a measure that refers to the number of times a webpage advertisement is clicked, compared to the number of times it is displayed; it does not include the people who failed to click, yet arrived at the site later as a result of seeing the ad.

Your CTR is one of your key performance indicators (KPIs), and is commonly used to determine the success of digital marketing campaigns. It is also used to measure the effectiveness of emails and digital ads.
