Definition — What is AI?



The term Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to any human-like intelligence exhibited by a computer, robot, or other machines. AI is accomplished by studying how the human brain thinks, and how humans learn, decide, and work while trying to solve a problem, and then using the outcomes of this study as a basis for developing intelligent software and systems. Technologies like Machine Learning(ML) and Natural Language Processing(NLP) are all part of the AI landscape. John McCarthy coined the term ‘Artificial Intelligence’ and had the first AI conference in 1956. The applications for artificial intelligence are endless. The technology can be applied to many different sectors and industries.
