We have the need to:
1. Convert technicians to requestors when they change departments or job duties and still retain the data linked to the users that are converted.
2. Delete technicians and requestors when they are no longer employed or no longer using the system due to any reason and still retain the data linked to the deleted users.
Currently it appears a technician cannot be converted back to a requestor. If you delete the technician, you lose data since for some reason, that I don't understand, the historical records (transactions) retain the link by a user ID value. This is odd to me since any "transactions" that are to be preserved (archived), should be the data in its entirety, and not kept normalized through use of IDs. If you look in the list view of requests, you see their name, but if you view the details of the request, you see and ID number instead of the technician name.
If you don't delete the technician, then you either remove their log in, which does free up the license, but keeps them in the list of technicians to select. If you do as an old post recommends and change them to the SDGuest role, they don't show up in the list of technicians, but still retain a license, which of course is a waste.
I am also open to any database scripts to accomplish the changes until a GUI method is developed.
I am sure these options are beneficial to your entire SDP customer base.
Thank you.
