I've reached out to Support about this and they confirmed this is a known issue and they're working on a fix and will email us full details when they have them. Support stated this was not just affecting us and our server, but "all" systems. We have multiple departments on campus running separate Desktop Central systems, however, and two of them don't appear to have been impacted yet. It appears that this software is pushed when a PC reboots.
But I figured I would post here in the hopes of alleviating concerns if anybody else is experiencing this.
Yesterday, April 7, 2022, we started getting calls from users who reported a new icon on their desktops for Tableau Prep Builder. We could find no reference to this as an existing package on our Desktop Central server, nor a configuration to push it, nor anything in the Action Log Viewer to indicate any of our admins had created it and deployed it. Further, I searched in the software repository under D:\<install folder>\DesktopCentral_Server\webapps\DesktopCentral\swrepository\swuploads and found no installer for this software. So I thought it was coming from some other system, perhaps a mistake made by someone with Domain Admin privileges via an Active Directory GPO push.
Along with Tableau Prep Builder, it looks like whatever caused this also pushed out PostgreSQL and Microsoft ODBC driver 17 for SQL Server.
This has impacted more than 150 of our PCs so far, primarily in our hospital, and caused a great deal of confusion and concern. If this is happening to your systems, at least you know there's a reason.
