Having the ability to search for computers in System Manager via the Description field would be a huge benefit.

My point, when joining computers to Active Directory we use the Asset ID for the computer name and the Description field to identify the users.  This way a computer is joined to Active Directory once during its life-cycle, greatly reducing the time a support technician spends renaming computers.

By having the ability to search the Description field when providing support using System Manager a technician can quickly identify the user.
