Syslog Listening Port configurable in DeviceExpert 5200

As most of the DeviceExpert users are aware, the application starts a syslog server to listen for syslog messages, and uses the default UDP port 514 for the purpose. The port was not configurable till the DeviceExpert 5110 release. DeviceExpert 5200 release addresses this limitation by providing an option in the web client to configure the port which needs to be used to start the syslog server. This enhancement will help in avoiding port conflicts on DeviceExpert deployments.

How to configure the Syslog listening port ??

Select Admin tab -->General Settings --> Server Settings, you will find a text box to configure the syslog port. Key-in a valid port number so that the syslog server starts listening on the new port after you restart the DeviceExpert Service..

Note: The configuration takes effect only after re-starting the DeviceExpert service.
